Childhood memories.
Campingplatz Bürgel is the essence of the childhood memories of camping. This means that everything from the scents in the showers to the umbrellas in the common areas is 100% authentic. The site has received poor reviews from several visitors online, but it must be because some people confuse camping with spa stays. In any case, we were completely satisfied with the facilities that we met. We have heard, that the campsite has even been renovated in 2019 (after we were there).
A beautiful area.
The site is located on a beautiful green plot on the bank of the river Main. The train to Frankfurt city center (line 11) is about 200 meters away. Still, it is perfectly quiet and with both bike and running trails close by, there is ample opportunity to get some exercise. Or a relaxing walk along the river.
Everything you need.
At the campsite, there is a small playground, an ice cream parlor, and a restaurant. The prices in the restaurant are extremely favorable and although the menu is minimalistic and consists of typical German campsite food, it is of really good quality and made with fresh ingredients. Of course, served with good German beer if that’s what you want.
Essential necessities.
Of course, there are also bathing facilities at the site, as well as the possibility to empty both grey and black water and get fresh water in the water tank.
In the cheap end.
The price for a camper, 2 adults, and electricity is 22 Euro per day (in 2018) , which is also at the reasonable end. All in all, a nice little campsite, that may be a little old-fashioned, but certainly not one you need to avoid if you are a camper without spa demands.
